4 males were born 24 July. 3 of them are similar to Vytok in color, while the last one is more grey. Tara makes the perfect mother and takes good care of her offspring. We will use the blog to keep you up to date on how they are developing during the next weeks.

Tara came in heat a bit later than expected, but is now bred to Vytok. The puppies are expected around the 20 July. We will probably keep 2 puppies ourselves and some are spoken for, but there might still be puppies available from this litter. More information on the Puppies’ page.
Mithril did well with an HP, but Runner, Bronco and Vytok had to do with 2 prizes this time. Tara had lost her left eyetooth without us noticing, so even though she impressed us with being “showy” for the first time in the ring and got excellent critics, her “showtime” is over. Always nice to meet up with both familiar faces and people new to the Siberian community though!
Rikke Bergendahl and Ronny Sletner came to visit us, and we went to Vierli early Saturday morning. This was Ulf’s third Rauland Race and he came in as number 5 of 18 teams. Our neighbour Åsa Flatland beat him by nearly 2 minutes. Congratulations to them both. The weather was great on Saturday, blue skies and a breeze that made the dogs not too warm. In the evening the organizing club Mush arranged a buffet and the prizes to the mushers were handed out. A sociable event. We spent the night in our Lavvu. On Sunday it was a bit more snowy and windy, but a lot of children participated in the Children’s race. To get their diplomas and a little candy always make their day. We are looking forward to next year.![]()

This year we spent some extra days at Femunden. It was as always a very pleasant experience and the whole family look forward to each time we go to one of these gatherings. You can read about Kari’s rookie experience in; NSHK race 06, The Wife’s Turn.![]()

To get some proper training runs we went to Svene between X-mas and New Year’s Eve to train in the trails of Middle Distance musher Ole Jonny Dokken.
NSHK fall meeting at Finnskogen. The whole family and all the dogs went. The weather on Saturday can at its best be described as rainy, but the weather changed to the better in the evening and Sunday was ok. Ulf participated in the rig-race with 6 dogs on Saturday.
Bronco bred to Nay-La-Chee’s Nomi:
Bronco has been to Rikke for a week and being bred to Nomi. The litter is expected in the middle of September. The pictures are showing Ulf trying to persuade Bronco to leave the beach towel and join him in the water. He finally did dip his paws and belly.
Trygve (Kari's brother) and Kari went for a walk up to Prestetinden (1277 metres above sea level). The nice, but warm weather made the patches of snow and cool mountain lakes a nice place to cool down for Mithril and Fogo. No reindeer to be seen, but some grouse.
Since Rikke has a bigger dog yard than us, Utu has moved to her place. We have tried her for two seasons, but her softness has made her performance in harness uneven. We will miss her sweet personality, and hope the "change of scenery" will help her perform better.
Her sled was only fastened to Ulf’s, but she stood on the runners for 6 hours, and enjoyed the beautiful, but windy trip.

We brought home Fenrisulven Breke, or Bronco as he is called, from Anneliese and Manfred Witschel. He is a yearling who has shown great promise in harness so far. At the same time we took home Tara from Siri in Alvdal to breed her to Arctic Soul Vytok, a young but very hardworking male. We hope she will be in heat at the end of April.![]()

Ulf took a week off work to help Tom Arne Kristiansen at Femund 400 which started 3 February. You can read about his experience in the article: The Femund Race 06. A very good (but tiring) experience. Tom Arne did very well, and placed 9th. Our neighbour Åsa Flatland also participated in the race and made it to the finish-line as number 32. Congratulations to them both!![]()

Swedish Specialty show in Evertsberg with 150 Siberians present. Judges were Sheila and Simon Luxmoore from England. I showed Runner(2nd of 6 male pups), Smilla (2UK), Vytok (1JK, CK, 3 in JK out of 15) Utu (2AK). Nice to meet both Finnish and Swedish friends again. Simon Luxmoore gave an entertaining lecture about Siberians in the UK the night before the show and on Sunday we watched the rig- race before we headed back home.
